Wildcat Golf League Kick-off Meeting Minutes - 4/14/2011

The annual kickoff meeting was held at the Ground Round on April 14th 2011


There were 14 members in attendance: Jim Spencer, Rick Spencer, Joe Savelli, Ed Drew, Ken Reester, Ed Lespreance, Rick Wilson, Dave Hoople, Dave Laszewski, Rick Pell, Tony Zieno, Bill Cuddeback, Greg McDonald, and Wayne Matthews.


Last years League Champs Tony and Rick were acknowledged by a round of cheers!


Vice President –Wayne Matthews called the meeting to order at 5:45pm.  He led the meeting since our illustrious President-Bob Malecki was OMG working.

No one asked for the minutes of the last meeting in 2010 to be read, so they weren’t.  That was okay as I can ascertain that they are accurate!

Wayne asked for nominations from the floor for President and Vice President. A nomination was made for Tony Zieno as President and Rick Pell as Vice President. (Last year’s League Champs)  The nominations were then immediately closed and a vote was taken and they are our new officers.  Some further discussion was held on the remaining two officers.  That being the Treasurer and Secretary/Handicapper.   Joe Savelli said that he would stay on as Treasurer and Wayne Matthews after offering up his job to anyone, decided to stay on as secretary/handicapper, after no one would step forward!


The meeting at this point was turned over to our new pres Tony.


The league will begin play on April 28th  and end on Sept 8th


State Park has asked for our roster of players with the following information on it.  Name, telephone number and date of birth.  They want this for their computer system to know who qualifies for the senior rate greens fee. (Which is now $10).  Wayne has most of that information except birthdates. Most of the birthdates were obtained at the meeting,  However, if you were not at the meeting please either e-mail or call Wayne with your birthdate, as this is needed ASAP!


We had a lot of discussion on make up of matches and agreed to the following.  (This is further clarification of rule 6 and 7a) If the front nine was the night to play and your opponents advised you that they could not play, you must still play for handicap purposes. The match must be made up by one of 2 ways. You can agree to play your match before the next scheduled play of the front nine, (Before 2 weeks ) or  you can agree to match cards on the next scheduled play of the front nine, which would be in 2 weeks.  Failure to do so will result in a forfeit for the team who could not play on the original night of play.


It was decided by unanimous vote that Steve Richards and Ross Mirabito will set up and run the year end tournament (Hey, Steve and Ross it pays to be at the meeting).


Furthermore, it was also agreed to by unanimous vote that the Gold Tees, commonly referred to as the “Pussy Tees” will be renamed “the Chick Tees”  (Chick you should have been there also)


Rule 25 was also clarified to explain that, besides not allowing 2 substitutes to play in place of a team. One substitute can not play alone.  There must always be 1 member playing on the team.  One member and one substitute will be a valid team.


The dues have been reduced to $50.00 per season per member.  It was agreed to discontinue our get togethers after the match at the swimming area parking lot.  Instead it was agreed to meet at the clubhouse for food and drinks.  We will try this for several weeks to see if our camaraderie is still amongst us.  If not then we may revert back to the swimming area parking lot and have those that want to participate pay $2 or $3 per night.  That way those that choose not to attend will not feel they are getting the shaft!!!!!


Pace of play was discussed, and we decided that we must pick up speed. (Wayne mentioned that Jay Kelly (last years pro) said that we are among the slowest league playing at State Park)  We can improve our pace by playing ready golf and by finishing out your putts (don’t mark and let the next farthest from the pin go next).
